Your main tasks include:
Supplier Qualification:
- Conduct audits for initial qualification and periodic re-evaluation of suppliers
- Assess the quality capabilities and technical competencies of potential suppliers
- Support supplier selection in close cooperation with Purchasing and Engineering
Supplier Development:
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives at supplier sites
- Identify and implement corrective actions in case of quality or performance deviations
- Monitor supplier performance through KPIs (e.g., on-time delivery, complaint rate) and initiate improvement plans
Technical Interface to Engineering:
- Collaborate closely with engineering during the design phase to ensure manufacturable and cost-effective drawings
- Advise design teams on economically viable production methods at suppliers
- Contribute to “Design-to-Cost” strategies during new product development
Cost Optimization:
- Identify cost-saving opportunities by involving suppliers early in the product development process
- Support make-or-buy decisions based on technical feasibility and cost efficiency
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a similar technical field
- Several years of professional experience in quality, engineering, procurement, or production, ideally with supplier interaction
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Solid understanding of manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, sheet metal, plastics) and their cost implications
